How to manually uninstall Actian Zen database engine

IMPORTANT!! The article provides all the possible locations of the Actian program path and registry keys. If the file locations listed are not present, you may move to the next steps in the article.

Section 1: Uninstall from the Control Panel

  1. Close all Sage applications.
  2. Press the Windows key + R to open a Run line.
  3. Type appwiz.cpl and press Enter.
  4. Right-click Actian Zen v15 Workgroup and select Uninstall. When prompted click Remove.
    • For earlier versions of Sage 50, look for Actian PSQL v13 Workgroup R2 or Pervasive PSQL, instead.
  5. Once the uninstall completes, proceed to Section 2.


Section 2: Rename existing file folders

  1. Rename or delete the Actian directory in:
    • 64-Bit Windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\
    • 32-Bit Windows: C:\Program Files\
  2. Browse to C:\ProgramData and rename or delete the Actian folder.
  3. Proceed to Section 3.


Section 3: Remove existing registry entries

  1. Press the Windows key+R.
  2. Type regedit and press Enter.
  3. Click OK.
  4. Right-click Computer, Export, and save backup of Registry.
  5. On the left pane, browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software.
  6. Delete Pervasive Software and PEYX489ZK.
  7. On 64-bit PCs, browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Wow6432Node \ Pervasive Software.
  8. Delete Pervasive Software.
  9. On 64-bit PCs, browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Wow6432Node \ PEYX489ZK.
  10. Delete PEYX489ZK.
  11. Close the Registry Editor.

Note:

  • Actian Zen is the database engine that is the backbone of the software and is required to be installed on all machines running Sage 50—U.S. Edition
  • To reinstall Actian Zen, refer to How to manually install Actian Zen.
