NOTE: This solution requires removing all non-Microsoft printers and printer drivers from the computer. Make sure you have the software/drivers needed to reinstall the printers. [BCB:4:Operating system warning:ECB] Delete PTR files in the Forms folder in the data path - Locate the data path.
- Close Sage 50.
- Click the Windows Start button. In the Search field, type explorer.
- Select the File Explorer to open it.
- Browse to the data path located in step 1.
- Open the Forms folder.
- Delete all files with the PTR extension.
- Open Sage 50 and verify that you're able to print forms without error. If the error still occurs, proceed to the next section.
Delete and reinstall printers - From the Windows Start menu, select Devices and Printers.
- Delete all non-Microsoft installed printers. Don’t delete Microsoft XPS Document Writer and Microsoft Office Document Image Writer Driver.
- Once you uninstall the printers, click File and select Server Properties.
- From the Print Server Properties screen, click the Drivers tab.
- Delete all non-Microsoft installed printer drivers. Don’t delete drivers for Microsoft XPS Document Writer and Microsoft Office Document Image Writer Driver.
- If prompted to "Remove Driver Only" or "Remove Driver and Driver Package," select Remove Driver and Driver Package.
- Run a repair on the Sage 50 installation.
- Verify that the Sage 50 E-mail Writer v3 printer installed.
- Reinstall the needed printers.
- Confirm that emailing and printing function properly.
WSD (Web Services for Devices) printers Many modern printers (especially HP and Kyocera) automatically install using WSD ports, which cause cause inconsistent or incorrect printing behavior in Sage. To check if the printer is using WSD: - Click the Windows Start button, and in the search field, search for Printers & scanners.
- Select Printers & scanners.
- Click the printer and then select Printer properties.
- Select the Ports tab and review the selected port. If it begins with WSD, the printer is using WSD.
If the printer is using a WSD port: - Reinstall or reconfigure the printer using a standard TCP/IP port
- Use the manufacturer's driver, not the default Windows install
