  • You may browse to and convert a Database on a network share so long as you choose the option convert for network use.
  • If you browse to a Database on a network share and choose the option to convert for local use then you will receive a message that informs you that this is not allowed and that the Database needs to be copied to your local hard drive for conversion.

Close other applications or Windows processes before starting the conversion

Migrating data from Sage Timeslips verson 9 - 2015

  • Converting data from an earlier version of Sage Timeslips may take an extended period of time. If your database is large, the conversion process can take several hours. To optimize the speed of the conversion process, please consider the following suggestions:
    • Data conversion is a two-step process
      • The first step makes a copy of your original database - your original data in Borland Database format will be left untouched.
      • Single License Setup - The second step converts the data from the BDE format up to Firebird SQL format for Sage Timeslips Premium. Your data will be placed into the same database folder. The original database will be copied into a new sub folder labeled Orig_BDE_DATA. Its name will be in the same format as it was prior to conversion. Before the conversion starts, the conversion program will ask you a series of questions to help you decide how to convert certain types of data that have changed in the new version of Sage Timeslips.
      • Multi License Setup - The second step converts that data from the BDE format up to Firebird SQL format for use with Sage Timeslips Premium. Your data will be placed into the new Sage Timeslips database directory that you chose during your initial installation/upgrade. The default directory is C:\ProgramData\Sage\Timeslips\. your original database will be left intact and untouched as the data converter only reads your information and places your newly converted data into your new database directory. Before the conversion starts, you will go through a conversion wizard that will allow you to choose a new name for your converted data. The conversion program will ask you a series of questions to help you decide how to convert certain types of data that have changed in the new version of Sage Timeslips.

When you are ready to convert your database, refer to How to convert your BDE database to Firebird.
