Choosing the markups (addons) to use for the estimate

You can choose addons for the estimate before or after takeoff. Some estimators like to set them up before takeoff so they can see how the overall estimate is shaping up as they work.

To choose the addons for the estimate:

  1. Open the Totals window in one of the following ways:
    • On the ribbon, from the Estimate Views group on the Home tab, click Totals.
    • In classic view, click Takeoff menu > Estimate Totals, or click  on the toolbar.
  2. Click  to open the Insert Addon window.
  3. Double-click the addon you want. The addon displays in the Totals window.

Select additional addons in the same manner.

  1. When you finish selecting addons, click [Close] to close the Insert Addon window.
  2. Click [OK].

Tips:

  • Do you use addons based on the current spreadsheet total? Where you place these addons in the Totals window is important.
  • You can rearrange the order of addons in the Totals window.
  1. Click the header of the addon, category total, or subtotal you want to move.
  2. Click the header again and drag the addon to its new location (a red line appears where the selection will be inserted).

Tips:

  • You can select more than one addon, category, or subtotal at a time.
  • You can drag and drop an addon to the Totals window from the Insert Addons window.
  • You can rearrange addon, category, and subtotal rows in whatever order you choose.
  • The job total row must always come last.
  • You can print the estimate totals by clicking  .
  • You can update an addon in the Totals window when you select it, right-click, and then choose Update Addon from Database. Sage Estimating replaces the estimate addon information with data from the standard database addon.
