Troubleshoot a scheduled backup
Description

Make sure the Windows user who created the backup logs in when the scheduled backup runs.

Test the Scheduled Backup

  1. Select File, Backup Scheduler.
  2. Click View/Modify Existing Tasks.
  3. Click the Task Name of the backup you want to test.
  4. Click Run Scheduled Task
    • If the backup is a success, a screen will flash up and disappear
    • If the backup fails, a screen will appear with the reason why the backup is failing
  5. Go to the location of the backup and verify the file appears.

     

Verify the Required Microsoft Files are Installed

  1. Click Windows Start.
  2. Type: Control Panel and open it.
  3. Open Programs and Features.
  4. Verify that the system has Microsoft Windows Desktop Runtime - 8.0.x installed. If it's not installed, reinstall Sage BusinessWorks on the computer.

Delete the Scheduled Backup if you modified the task

There’s no undo option. Once you delete a task, you’ll need to recreate the task.

  1. Select File, Backup Scheduler.
  2. Click View/Modify Existing Tasks.
  3. Select the Task Name.
  4. Click Delete Scheduled Task.

Set up a New Scheduled Backup

Keep the computer powered on during scheduled backup times. Remember, only the computer where you set up the backups can view the scheduled backups.

  1. Select File, Backup Scheduler.
  2. Click Browse... to choose your backup file location.
  3. Once you select the location, click Select Folder.
  4. Click Next>.
  5. Select your Companies to back up. We recommend scheduling the System backup at a different time than your company backup.
  6. Click Next>.
  7. Select the Frequency to back up. You can choose Daily, Weekly, Monthly or Yearly. We recommend backing up your company data daily.
    • The default backup time of a company database is 11:59:59 PM
    • The default backup time of the system database is 11:50:59 PM
  8. Click Finish
