Summary

After an upgrade, I'm being prompted for login and I don't remember my username.

Resolution

The CAX or CAC files in the company data folder will help identify usernames. Use instructions below to locate these files:

  1. Go to the Open An Existing Company window.
  2. Resize the window by clicking one of the corners and dragging the cursor away from the window.
  3. Write down the value in the directory column.
  4. Browse to the location listed in the directory column:
    • Use "My Computer," "Computer" or "This PC" to locate the folder or
    • Open a Run prompt by pressing the Windows Key + R keys at the same time. Type the directory value from Step 3 in the Open field and click OK.
  5. Change the folder view to Details.
Note: This can be changed from the View option on the file menu or by clicking the view drop-down icon in Windows Vista and newer Operating Systems.
  6. In the header (above the list of files and folders), click Type in order to sort by this column. Locate the CAX or CAC files.
  7. The text in the Name column is the username for the company.
Note: If present, the extension in the Name column (example: .CAX or .CAC) can be ignored.
  8. In Sage 50, log in with the username from Step 7.

Note: The default username is "Admin".
