How to activate licenses, different versions, and serial numbers

Summary

How to change the serial number to add licenses or upgrade Sage 50 Accounting from one product flavor to another.

Resolution

 NOTE: To locate your newest serial number, see How to find the serial number. 

  1. Go to the server or the main computer hosting the data.
  2. Open Sage 50.
  3. Select Help, and then select Sage 50 Activation, Licensing, and Subscription Options.
  4. Select Change your current version and then click OK.
  5. Enter your new Serial Number and click OK.
  6. Sage will automatically close and reopen. If it doesn’t, close Sage 50 manually and reopen it.
  7. Select Help, and then select About Sage 50 Accounting.
  8. Verify the new serial number displays.

When Sage 50 opens on a workstation, it will automatically activate the new serial number.

If the workstation doesn’t automatically pick up the new serial number, it’s most likely because it has a local data path. In this case, perform steps 2-8 above on the workstation to activate the new serial number.
