How to change dots-per-Inch (DPI) settings and screen resolution

Resolution

DPI Settings

Windows 11

  1. Right-click on the desktop and select Display Settings.
  2. Click the Scale section.
  3. Set the scaling setting to 100% (Recommended) from the drop-down list.
  4. Windows 11 will automatically apply the new DPI scaling.

Windows 10

  1. Right-click on the desktop and select Display Settings.
  2. Select Change the size of text, apps, and other items, and then adjust the slider for each monitor.
  3. Set the DPI setting to 100%.
  4. Select Apply.
  5. Select Log off now.

Screen Resolution

Windows 11

  1. Right-click on the desktop and select Display Settings.
  2. Right-click menu settings in Windows 11 with Display Settings highlighted. If this doesn’t open, find and click Display in the Start menu.
  3. Scroll down to the Scale & Layout section. 
  4. Select the drop-down next to Display resolution to select the screen resolution settings.

Windows 10

  1. Right-click on the Desktop and select Display Settings.
  2. Select Display.
  3. Select Advanced Display settings.
  4. Select Advanced sizing of text and other items.
  5. Select Set a custom scaling level link located in the paragraph titled Change size of items.
  6. Set the percentage to 100%.
  7. Log out user and log in again.
