How to install payroll updates

Note: In order to install tax updates, you must be subscribed to the payroll tax service.

Option 1 - Check for updates within program

  1. Go to Services, Check for Updates. Click Check Now.
  2. Click Download.
    • Note: If you do not get the Download prompt, close Sage 50, right-click the Sage 50 program icon. Select Run as administrator, then Check for Updates again.
  3. Close Sage 50 to start the installation.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Option 2 - Install the tax update manually

  1. Press the Windows key + E to open the File Explorer.
  2. In the File Explorer, browse to your DocLink: data path.
  3. In the data path folder, locate the Updates folder and open it.
  4. Find the tax update file. It will appear in the format of payroll year, month of update, and Sage 50 version.
    • For example, the file name of the October 2022 tax update is Tax2022Oct_Release202x.exe
  5. Run the update by double-clicking it, and follow the prompts to install.

Note: The latest tax update can also be download manually from the Sage Knowledgebase. Refer to Sage 50—U.S. Edition: Download Portal.
