Summary
How to export from and import data into Sage 50 Accounting.
Resolution
Exporting
- Click File, Select Import/Export.
- Select the desired type of data to export (Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, etc.).
- Select the desired data to export.
- Click Export.
- On the Filter tab, set the filters as desired.
- Select the Fields tab.
- Check Show next to any fields you wish to include.
- Uncheck Show next to any fields you don’t wish to include.
- Select the Options tab.
- To include headings in the exported file, check Include Headings.
- To change the destination location or file name, click the button below Import/Export File.
- If desired, change the If Export File Exists option.
- Click OK to export the file. When the process completes, the window will close to the Select Import/Export window.
Importing
TIP: Export a copy of the journal or record you would like to import to use as a template to import with.
- Click File, Select Import/Export.
- Select the desired type of data to Import (Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, etc.).
- Select the desired data to import.
- Click Import.
- On the Fields tab, make sure to have checkmarks in all the fields that you want to import. Clear the checkmarks in the ones you don’t.
NOTE: For each type of data, there’s a set of required fields. Consult the Sage 50 Help for specifics (click Help, Help Topics, and search for import/export field definitions.
- Use the Move Up and Move Down buttons to rearrange the fields so they are in the exact order as in the import file.
- Select the Options tab.
- Click the button below Import/Export File to select the import file.
- If the first row of the import file contains column headers, check First Row Contains Headings.
- Click OK to import the file. When the process completes, the window will close to the Select Import/Export window.
