Summary
Cause
A 1099 Recipient name contains special characters that are not allowed.
FIELD | CHARACTERS ALLOWED |
First Name | The only special characters allowed are a space and a dash (-), the IRS will reject all other characters. |
Last Name | The only special characters allowed are a space and a dash (-), the IRS will reject all other characters. |
Company Name | The only special characters allowed are space, ampersand (&), and dash (-), the IRS will reject all other characters. |
Full Name | The only special characters allowed are space, ampersand (&), and dash (-), the IRS will reject all other characters. |
The 1099 Recipient name comes from one of the following:
- AP 1099s
- AP, Setup, Vendors
- Name field
- Recipient's Tax Name field on the 1099 Settings tab
- AP, Setup, Vendors
- PM 1099s
- PM, Setup, Tenants, General tab, Controls subtab
- Tax Name field
- PM, Setup, Tenants, General tab, Controls subtab
Resolution
For versions 22.2 (no update) and earlier, you will need to manually remove the characters that are not allowed from the name fields that are flagged red in the W-2/1099 Preparer window.
