Summary
The article provides instructions for copying a company to a new database within Sage Fixed Assets to avoid exceeding asset database limitations, detailing steps in the software and providing notes on system behavior and alternative methods for larger companies.
Resolution
Warning: To prevent exceeding the asset database limitations, copy the company to a new database. See Asset Database limitations
In Sage Fixed Assets:
- Go to: File, Company Utilities, Copy Company.
- In the From box: Select the company to copy.
- In the To box: Choose the database for the company to copy into.
- Click Copy.
Notes:
- While copying the company, the system may show as Not Responding. This does not mean the process stopped is frozen. Allow the process to continue until it finishes. The process will generate an error if there is an issue. Do not End Task on the process
- If you copy the company to the same database, the system will prompt to enter the New Company Name. Enter the new name, then click Rename
- For larger companies, it may be preferable to just backup the company then restore it. You can also use this process if the copy company attempt failed
