Setting up Password Security

1. Go to File, Password Security, Supervisor.
2. There's a prompt for the Supervisor Password. If you haven't enabled Password Security or no Supervisor exists, the system prompts you to create one.  
3. In the Supervisor dialog:
   1. Check System Security Enabled to turn on system level security.
   2. Under Company Security, in the Name box, select the desired company.
   3. Then check Company Security Enabled to turn on security for that company.
   4. Select each company individually to enable company-level security.

For companies in a different database

1. Click OK to close the Supervisor window.
2. Go to File, Open Company to open a company in a different database.
3. Access the Supervisor window to enable security on those companies.
4. Under Security mode: Put the dot Windows Authentication (Recommended), to allow the windows authenticated user to log in.

   Choose Application Authentication to have the program define the rules regarding your user name and password. This is useful in multi-domain scenarios.

Define security profiles (system level)

Define System profile

1. Go to File, Password Security, Define Profiles, Define System Profiles

Create a New profile

1. Click Add, enter a Profile Name, click OK.
2. Select the appropriate access (None, Read, or Edit) for each function for this Profile.
3. Click OK to save all changes.

Edit an existing profile

1. Select the Profile Name from the dropdown box.
2. Select the appropriate access (None, Read, or Edit) for each function for this profile.
3. Click OK to save all changes.

Define company profiles

1. Open the company you’re defining the profile.
2. Go to File, Password Security, Define Profiles, Define Company Profiles.

To create a new profile

1. Click Add and enter a Profile Name.
2. Click OK.
3. Select the appropriate access (None, Read, or Edit) for each function for this profile.
4. Click OK to save all changes.

To edit an existing profile

1. Select the Profile Name from the dropdown box.
2. Select the appropriate access (None, Read, or Edit) for each function for this profile.
3. Click OK to save all changes.

Create Users and Assign User Privileges

To Create User Accounts for Windows Authentication (Recommended)

1. Go to: File, Password Security, Assign User Privileges, Assign System Privileges.
2. Click New User, enter a Username.
3. Select the correct Domain for that user.
4. Click OK.
5. Users don't need to log in to Sage Fixed Assets when using Windows Authentication. They receive the right of the Windows-Authenticated user of the system.

To Create User Accounts for Application Authentication

1. Go to File, Password Security, Assign User Privileges, Assign System Privileges.
2. To Create a User: Click New User, enter a Username.
3. Click OK.
4. When a user logs in for the first time, the password is the same as the username.
5. The user can change their password by selecting File, Password Security, Change Password.

Assign Privileges

To assign system privileges

1. Go to File, Password Security, Assign User Privileges, Assign System Privileges.
2.  Under the User List, Highlight the desired User.
3. Select the desired profile from the Profile Name dropdown box, click >> button.

To Assign Company Privileges

1. Open the company.
2. Go to File, Password Security, Assign User Privileges, Assign Company Privileges.
3. Under the User List: Highlight the desired user.
4. Select the desired profile from the Profile Name dropdown box, click >> button.
