Set up security groups to control user access

Summary

How to set up security groups to restrict user access in Sage 100 Contractor.

Resolution

Create the security group

  1. Open 7-2-1 Security Groups. (7-3-1 Security Groups for version 19.8 or earlier.)
  2. Enter the group number in the Group Number cell.
  3. Type the group name in the Group Name cell.
  4. In the Save / Delete cell, type Yes to allow the group to save records.
  5. In the Void cell, type Yes to allow the group to void records.
     NOTE: This doesn't apply to Purchase Orders, Change Orders, or Subcontracts. 
  6. In the Change Period cell, type Yes to allow the group to change the posting period.
  7. In the Print Checks cell, type Yes to allow the group to print checks.
  8. Repeat Steps 1–7 for each security group you want to create.
  9. Click File, Save.

Assign users to security groups

  • Open 7-2-2 User List to assign users to the correct groups.
  • If you're using version 19.8 or earlier, open 7-3-2 User List instead.
