Prepare Depreciation

NOTE:

You can create assets without templates.

  1. Verify the template information in the Asset Detail.
  2. Create a template in Depreciation before creating assets from CIP if you plan to use templates. See How to create a Template or How to edit a Template in Depreciation for details.

Set up CIP

Set the default company

  1. Open the CIP project.
  2. Select Projects, Preferences, Set Default Company.
  3. Select the appropriate Database and Company.

Import templates

  1. Open the CIP project.
  2. Select Customize, Fields.
  3. Select the Asset Template field.
  4. Select Enter Field List.
  5. Select Import List.
  6. Select OK, and then OK again to save the imported list.
Note: Asset templates are optional. Templates help maintain data consistency between the CIP and Depreciation databases.

Map fields directly

If you don't use templates:
  1. Select Customize, Fields.
  2. Highlight a field.
  3. Select a value from the Depreciation Destination Field list.
  4. Choose the field that receives the Line Item value.

Create assets

  1. Verify you have the line item status as Completed (C).
  2. On the Asset Information tab, confirm you have Spending Complete set to Yes.
  3. On the Asset Information tab, select an Asset Template, if applicable.
  4. Select Save.
  5. From the Line Item details or Group View, select Line Items, Create Assets.
  6. Select the destination company and database, if prompted.
  7. Select Create Assets.
  8. Review the report that lists the converted assets.
