How to import new assets as disposed assets

Summary

This article provides steps to import disposed assets as new assets via the custom import function.

Resolution

Notes and considerations:

  • Sage Fixed Assets does not calculate values during the new asset import process. Any fields not mapped will display at their default value. If you map any of the below fields, the field cannot be blank
  • Assets imported as a disposal won’t appear as disposed on reports until you calculate depreciation on the assets
  • You can only import whole disposals for new assets. You cannot import Partial Disposal, Partial Transfers, and Transfers
  • An import can only dispose existing assets if you are on version 2022.1 or higher and have a subscription support plan. See How to dispose existing asset via Custom Import

Add the following fields to the custom import file to import the asset as disposed:

  • Required: Disposal Date
  • Optional:
    • Disposal Method (Default = Sale)
    • Cash Proceeds (Default = $0.00)
    • Non-Cash Proceed (Default = $0.00)
    • Expense of Sale (Default = $0.00)
    • Gain/Loss Amount for each book (Default = $0.00)
    • Recognized Gain/Loss for each book (Default = N). The name of the field for Recognized Gain/Loss is Deferred Code

See How to do a custom import for more information on the new asset import process.
