Managing user licenses in Sage Fixed Assets

Summary

Steps to view, deactivate, and/or activate licensed computers in Network or Premier Depreciation editions of Sage Fixed Assets.

Resolution

To view and deactivate licensed computers

Network products (server)

  • Go to: Start > Programs > Sage Fixed Assets > Tools
  • Open the Database Utility - Network Depreciation & Tracking
  • Click Registration

Premier products (server)

  • Go to: Start > Programs > Sage Fixed Assets > Tools
  • Open the Registration - Premier Depreciation & Tracking
  • Click Registration

Alternate method (client or server access)
You can run the registration utility directly from the server location.
Client workstations can access these executables using the server path.

  • Network: C:\SFAServ\Network Clients\100BSNETREG.EXE
  • Premier: C:\SFAServ\Premier Client\500BSNETREG.EXE

Steps

  • Select the product
  • Click Manage Seats
  • Select Show Licensed Computers
  • Select the computers to deactivate
  • Click Deactivate

Notes

  • Only a limited number of deactivations are allowed
  • Each computer counts against Remaining Deactivations
  • When Remaining Deactivations is zero, request a reset code from support
  • To use a reset code:
    • Click Reset
    • Enter the code
    • Click Reset to restore the maximum allowed. You can re-use the code on the day you received it as much as you need to

To activate users

Manual activation

  • When a user launches and connects to Depreciation, the machine appears under Show Unlicensed Users
  • Select the machine
  • Click Activate

Automatic activation

  • If a seat is available, a new connection uses a seat automatically

To view seat usage from a client workstation

  • Go to Help > Registration
  • Select the product
  • Click View Seats

Result

  • Displays total allowed client connections
  • You can’t add or remove machines from the client program

Seat lists

  • Licensed Computers: first computers to connect
  • Unlicensed Computers: computers connecting after Available Seats + 1

Important information

  • For remote access scenarios where installations exceed seats, contact support and request information on the pooled environment workaround. Provide version, number of installations, and total users

  • If users exceed available seats, a seven-day grace period applies. After it expires, deactivate a workstation to restore access. See The seven Day Grace Period
