How to perform Test Sage 100 Upgrade

Before you begin 

  • Always back up your data before proceeding
  • Confirm compatibility with third-party products and other Sage components

Steps to upgrade

  1. Have all users exist the Source (LIVE) installation.
  2. Copy the MAS90 folder to a different location for the test migration.
    • Premium users use the LIVE installation for the test migration
  3. Install the new version to a different location on the existing server or a new server.
    • Review the Update Checklist for pre- and post-migration instructions
  4. Install the latest product update.
    • If applicable, Install Payroll
    • If applicable, Install any required third-party enhancements pre-migration
  5. Make a backup of the new installation MAS90 folder.
    • Review recommended practices for handling credit card data before migration
  6. Browse to the …\MAS90\Migration\ folder of the new installation.
  7. Right-click Migrate.exe and choose Run as Administrator.
  8. Click Next.
  9. Enter the new (target) installation administrator password. Click Next.
  10. Browse to or enter the path to the source installation MAS90 folder. Click Next.
  11. Enter the source installation administrator password. Click Next.
    • If you don’t know the password, see the related Knowledgebase article below.
  12. Select Next on the Migrate System Files screen.
    • If re-migrating, choose whether to re-migrate system files
      (users, role security, logs, customizations).
    • If applicable Choose whether to migrate Visual Integrator jobs for non-business framework modules.
  13. Click Next.
  14. Select whether to migrate companies that already exist in the new installation. Click Next.
  15. Select companies to migrate, then click Next.
  16. Review migration settings then click Next to begin migration.
  17. Perform steps in the ‘Data Conversion Checklist’ in the Upgrade Checklist or Guide.
  18. To rerun the migration, go back to Step 9.
