How to install for sharing data with Remote Data Access
Description
Cause

Sage Remote Data Access allows you to connect to and synchronize your data remotely via our cloud servers.  Customers have used this in the following ways:

  • Sharing in-office over the cloud instead of a Local Area Network (LAN)
  • Accessing company data on a laptop they take home with them
  • Working from home
  • Allowing an off-site accountant to access your data
Resolution
NOTE: Use this setup for existing Sage 50 Accounting Multi-User local network environments and remote standalone environments.
  1. Install Sage 50 Accounting as a standalone on each computer that will access your data.
  2. When asked Will this be the only computer running Sage 50?, select Yes. This will let you run Sage 50 without connecting to a server over a local network.
  3. Activate Sage 50.
    • Sage 50 will activate automatically if you close and reopen the program
    • If Sage 50 doesn't activate automatically, activate online through the Help menu
  4. Make sure you meet the requirements for using Remote Data Access.
  5. Share your company on Sage Remote Data Access.
    • Skip this step if you're connecting to a company someone else already shared
  6. Download your shared company with Remote Data Access.

Any changes you make on your local copy of the data will synchronize over the cloud with all the other users. Likewise, any changes other users make in the shared company, either remotely or in the office, will synchronize to your computer.
