Option 1: Multiple NICs
Advise the network administrator or IT support to identify the non-active network adapter on the computer and disable it. Editing the hosts file to force resolution to the desired IPv4 address may also help. See below.
Note: Servers using multiple network adapters can function normally if the network adapters are operating in a team as these will operate as one adapters, but not as independent network interfaces.
Option 2: Check GWpreference.txt
- Browse to your data path. Follow How to find data path and program path for assistance with finding your data path.
- Open the file GWPreference.txt.
- Delete the incorrect computer name and enter the correct computer name.
- Select File, then Save.
- Verify you no longer receive the error when opening.
Option 3: Edit the HOSTS file
- The problem may also be caused by faulty DNS resolution. Even if pinging the host machine by computer name resolves to the right IP address, it may help to force DNS resolution in the hosts file.
- See How to add a hosts file entry
- Run Notepad as an Administrator and open C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts.
- Add an entry at the bottom for the IP address of the server and the name of the host.
Example: 10.129.38.27 sageserver1
Option 4: Edit the ~PVSW~.LOC file
- Open the ~PVSW.LOC~ file in Notepad.
- Edit the computer name and save the change.
Option 5: Turn off Norton VPN
- Turn off Norton 365 VPN to activate Sage.
- After it is activated you can re-enable Norton VPN.
