Note: This is not a permanent or proper way to fix DNS settings on your network. Please contact a Network Administrator to correct the LAN DNS settings.
- Select Start, and type Notepad.
- Right-click Notepad, and then select Run as administrator.
- Browse to the Windows hosts file.
- Create a new line on the first available blank line and enter the server's IP address. Refer to How can I find the Internet Protocol (IP) address of my computer?. Then enter the server name. Refer to How can I find the name of my computer? to determine the server name.
Example: 192.168.1.1 Server - Select File, and then click Save.
Note: Steps may need to be repeated on any additional computers and may need to be added to the server if you cannot get a connection to the workstations.
