Section 1: Sage 50 is not installed on the server Install Sage 50 on the server and then install on the workstations; refer to Installation Instructions - Sage 50—U.S. Edition. Section 2: DNS resolution issues Note: This is intended as a workaround. Please contact your IT support for assistance with correcting the DNS issue. - Leave the error message on screen.
- Browse to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc.
- Double-click hosts file, and open with Notepad.
- On the last line of the file, enter the server IPv4 address; refer to Extremely slow opening a company on Windows Vista or Windows 7 in Related resources for assistance.
- Enter 5 spaces, type the server name, and then press Enter.
- Select File, and then click Save. (If you receive a message saying that you don't have permission to make changes to the file, right-click the hosts file in the Windows Explorer window. Select Properties. Select the Security tab. Verify all Group or user names have full control. Make necessary changes to permissions by clicking the Edit button.)
- Click the Cancel button on the error message, and the installation should move to the next step.
- Verify that Sage 50 installs without any errors.
Section 3: Windows Firewall blocking the program - Select Windows Start, Control Panel, and then Windows Firewall.
- Select Allow a program or feature through the Windows Firewall.
- Select the box for Home/Work group for all instances of Pervasive.
- If Sage 50 is not on the allowed list of programs, continue on; if it is, skip to step 8.
- Select Add or Allow another program.
- Select Sage 50, and then select OK.
- Check the box for Home/Work Group.
- Select OK.
Verify that the program will now open.
Section 4: Windows Firewall on server blocking install - Go to Start, Control Panel, & Windows Firewall. (May have to go through System and Security first to get to Windows Firewall).
- Select the Advanced Settings option on the list on the left.
- Click Inbound Rules.
- Verify that inbound rules are present for the two Pervasive ports 1583 & 3351.
- Verify that inbound rules are present for Pervasive PSQL Workgroup Engine.
- If the rules are not present, they will need to be entered via the New Rule option under Actions to the right.
- If rules are present, verify that they are enabled.
- If rules are not enabled, they will need to be enabled.
- Click Retry on the error message for the workstation install.
- Verify that installation continues.
Section 5: Workstation(s) no longer connected to the Network or the Network is down. Contact your Network Administrator to resolve Networking issues. Section 6: Check your host file entries - Click Start, Run or select Windows + R.
- Type Drivers in the Open box and click OK.
- Open the etc folder. Open the hosts file with Notepad.
- Make sure that all lines are preceded by a "#" sign so that it is commented out. Any other lines with no # sign are cutomizations for your newtork. Check with your IT department if you have any questions about this.
- Click File, and then Save.
- Verify that you can now install without error
