Set up/create a User DSN (also referred to as a Timberline DSN or ODBC DSN) to access Accounting and Management data. Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate must be installed on the workstation for the proper drivers to be available for the DSN.
To set up a User DSN, complete the following steps:
- From the Windows task bar, click Start and select All Programs, ODBC, 32bit ODBC Administrator.
- From the User DSN tab, click Add.
- In the Create New Data Source window, select Timberline Data, and then click Finish.
- Enter a Data Source Name and then specify the Database Type as an Accounting Data Folder. The Data Source Name can be any name unless otherwise specified in documentation for which you are using this DSN.
- Click Select Folder and then select the folder that contains the data you want to use.
- Click OK.
- Click Options.
- Specify the Table and Field Naming as Standard descriptions unless otherwise specified in documentation for which you are using this DSN. Note: For more information about Table and Field Naming, refer to How do I determine what ODBC Options to use for the DSN?
- If the DSN is for Crystal Reports, select the Use maximum table segment size check box.
- Clear the Shorten field and table names check box.
- Click OK.
- Click OK.

Note: Field descriptions associated with Miscellaneous fields that can be customized in Setup windows (as opposed to in Custom Descriptions) do not store a standard description field names. For further information refer to How do I determine what ODBC Options to use for the DSN?
