| Can I undo a lease cancellation in Property Management? |
Resolution | Follow the steps below to delete a lease and set it up again with the same lease ID. - Note any important information about this lease such as the lease ID, tenant ID, recurring charges, lease dates, etc. You may want to print a Lease Abstract report to help with setting the lease up again (Reports, Leasing, Lease Abstract).
- Verify the lease Balance and deposit balance are both zero (0.00).
- Select Tasks, Manage Leases, Change Lease, and select the lease.
- Select the General tab, Balance/Pmt subtab. Verify the Balance is zero/0.00/blank.
- Select the Deposit tab. For each Deposit type, verify the Balance displayed beneath the entry grid is zero/0.00/blank.
- If there is a lease balance or deposit balance, do not proceed with the remaining steps and refer to A canceled lease has a lease balance or deposit balance in Property Management
- Delete the lease. Refer to How do I delete a canceled lease in Property Management?
Warning: You can use this option if the lease has not been amended. If you delete a lease that has been amended, you may need a file fix to correct it.
- If the tenant status is Closed, delete the tenant in Setup, Tenants then set it back up again.
- From the Tasks menu, select Manage Lease, Start Lease.
- Click New Lease. Use the exact same Property, Unit, Tenant, and Lease ID as the original lease. If the exact same information is not used, the historical transactions will not be associated with this new lease.
- Use the Lease Abstract report from step 1 to recreate the original lease, including dates and charge information. Because this is a new lease, remember to set up the appropriate recurring charges, charge controls, deposits, late charges, and other lease settings as needed.
The lease is now back to a Future status.
