Copy company data into another company in Sage 100

You can also copy all data from a module application, or from a test system back into production when you see "File in Use"

Before you begin

Create a new destination company code

  1. Open Main menu, Company Maintenance.
  2. Click the Company Code field lookup.
    • Check which company codes already exist
    • Click Cancel to return
  3. Enter a new three-character company code.
    • Don’t use CON, SOA, 001, or 000
  4. Enter the new company name.
    • Add other info if needed
    • Only the company code is required
  5. Click Accept.
  6. Close Company Maintenance.

Copy data from a source company code to a destination company code

 CAUTION: This will overwrite data in the destination company code. 

  1. Open Library Master, Main menu, Company Maintenance.
  2. For Company Code, enter a three-character destination code.
    • Don’t use CON, SOA, 001, or 000
  3. Click Copy.
  4. Click OK when you see the warning: "Integration with any copied module should be reviewed".
  5. If you created a new company code, click Yes when prompted: "The company record must be saved before data can be copied".
  6. In Source Company, click lookup, select the company code to copy data from.
  7. Sage 100 selects all modules from the source company automatically.
    • Deselect any modules you don’t want to copy
    • You can’t deselect Common Information, General Ledger
    • To copy just one module, check the Related Resources
  8. Click Proceed.
  9. Click Yes when asked: "Do you want to copy all data files to the selected company?"
  10. Click Accept.
  11. Close Company Maintenance.

Copy a company from a test system back to production when "File in Use" message occurs

  1. Ask everyone to exit Sage 100.
  2. Go to the ....\MAS90 directory on the server.
  3. Rename MAS_XXX to origMAS_XXX.
    • XXX is the company code you're copying to
  4. Right-click in the directory, create a new folder.
  5. Rename the folder to MAS_XXX.
  6. Open Company Maintenance in Sage 100.
  7. Select XXX.
  8. Click Activate, then click Cancel.
  9. Click Accept.
    • This refreshes Sage’s view of the PEI company code
  10. Select XXX.
  11. Click Copy.
  12. Choose your Source Company.
  13. Click Proceed.
