Section 2: Prepare to use File Doctor
- Instruct all operators to exit all Sage applications
- Login to the Sage file server as the domain administrator
- Verify the available disk space on the drive where you will be fixing the data
- The available disk space must be at least twice the size of the file you are fixing.
- Stop Replication if using Mobile Projects or SQL Replicator. See How to stop Mobile Projects Replicator (SQL Replicator)
- Back up your data files.
Section 3: Use File Doctor to fix your data files
Important Note: When reviewing your File Doctor journal, remember that not all fixes are good fixes. Contact Sage 300 CRE Customer Support if you would like help reviewing the results.
- Some issues may require that you restore all files from a backup and fix the restored files before using them
- If issues continue, contact Sage 300 CRE Customer Support
To access File Doctor from Sage Desktop in versions 16.1 and newer:
Open Sage Desktop
Go to Applications, Common Tasks, Tools, File Doctor
Select the Current data folder to fix specific files in the current data folder
In the Tasks section
Select the Fix and compact bad files and Compact good files check boxes
Then select the desired files in the Files list (you can select multiple files)
- Under Printer Information (NOTE: This step is optional but recommended. Print your report to file to send to Customer Support for review)
- Click Printer Setup
- Select Print to file
- Then click OK
Click Start to begin fixing the file(s)
In the Print File Selection window, type a name for your summary report and click Save
Review your report to make sure your records are fixed and no data was lost
Restart Replication if using Mobile Projects or SQL Replicator.
