| | Adjust an Accounts Receivable invoice or credit memo |
| Resolution | You can't directly adjust Invoices with Split Commissions. To adjust, issue a credit or debit memo from the Sales Order module. - Open Modules, Accounts Receivable, Main menu, then Invoice Data Entry.
- Enter the Invoice Number to adjust. Click Accept at the message Invoice Number already used.
- Enter the Customer Number for the invoice. Click Yes at the message Invoice Already Exists. Adjust?.
- Review the Original Totals for the invoice, and then click OK.
- On the Header tab, enter information (as needed):
- Customer PO, Invoice Date, and any other information
- On the Lines tab, enter the adjustments:
- To reduce the amount of an invoice, enter the change as a negative number
NOTE: If adjusting a credit memo, enter a negative amount to adjust positively. Enter a positive amount to adjust negatively - To increase the amount, enter the change as a positive number
- Entries will be made by selecting a miscellaneous item number or miscellaneous charge
NOTE: If selecting M (the default miscellaneous item code), you also need to add a general ledger account - Accept and click the printer icon. You can change the posting date if needed.
- Open Modules, Accounts Receivable, Main menu, then Sales Journal to print and update the adjustment.
TIP: - Use the Tax Detail button to enter the correct tax amounts so the invoice balances properly
- Check the original invoice for taxable amount, sales tax, and total before making changes
- You can change the Invoice Date and Invoice Due Date in the data entry window
- Click the Totals tab, accept the entry, then update the A/R sales journal
- To change dates only, process a $0 adjustment
- You can add Comments to the invoice if needed
- For invoices from the Sales Order module, use a credit memo or debit memo to adjust
- If the invoice has Split Commissions, you can't adjust it directly. Issue a credit memo or debit memo from the Sales Order module instead
