You can't directly adjust Invoices with Split Commissions. To adjust, issue a credit or debit memo from the Sales Order module.

  1. Open Modules, Accounts Receivable, Main menu, then Invoice Data Entry.
  2. Enter the Invoice Number to adjust. Click Accept at the message Invoice Number already used.
  3. Enter the Customer Number for the invoice. Click Yes at the message Invoice Already Exists. Adjust?.
  4. Review the Original Totals for the invoice, and then click OK.
  5. On the Header tab, enter information (as needed):
    • Customer PO, Invoice Date, and any other information
  6. On the Lines tab, enter the adjustments:
    • To reduce the amount of an invoice, enter the change as a negative number
    •  NOTE: If adjusting a credit memo, enter a negative amount to adjust positively. Enter a positive amount to adjust negatively
    • To increase the amount, enter the change as a positive number
    • Entries will be made by selecting a miscellaneous item number or miscellaneous charge
    •  NOTE: If selecting M (the default miscellaneous item code), you also need to add a general ledger account

  7. Accept and click the printer icon. You can change the posting date if needed.
  8. Open Modules, Accounts Receivable, Main menu, then Sales Journal to print and update the adjustment.

 TIP:

  • Use the Tax Detail button to enter the correct tax amounts so the invoice balances properly
  • Check the original invoice for taxable amount, sales tax, and total before making changes
  • You can change the Invoice Date and Invoice Due Date in the data entry window
  • Click the Totals tab, accept the entry, then update the A/R sales journal
  • To change dates only, process a $0 adjustment
  • You can add Comments to the invoice if needed
  • For invoices from the Sales Order module, use a credit memo or debit memo to adjust
  • If the invoice has Split Commissions, you can't adjust it directly. Issue a credit memo or debit memo from the Sales Order module instead
