| Error: "Sage 50 cannot be started..." and the Actian service is missing or cannot be restarted |
Cause | - Actian was uninstalled
- Actian is damaged
- Sage 50—U.S. Edition isn't installed on the server
- Avast Cleanup has Actian in "sleeping" mode, which effectively disables it

Resolution | Verify Sage 50 installation at the server - Select WINDOWS + R.
- Type Appwiz.cpl then click OK.
- Look for Sage 50 Accounting [version].
Manually reinstall Actian - Uninstall and reinstall the Actian database engine. See How to completely remove and reinstall Actian (formerly Pervasive).
- Open the program and verify that the issue no longer occurs.
Damaged operating system component - See Error: "There was a problem activating..." when the Operating System is damaged.
- Contact your local I.T. to repair the operating system if there are errors.
