How do I reverse, delete or void a bank transfer in Cash Management?
Description

Resolution

When you want to reverse, delete or void a bank transfer, you can either offset the original transfer with another bank transfer or use Edit Register to delete both sides of the transaction. Review the information below and then determine which option is best for your business practices.

Note: If the transfer is not yet posted and you use manual batches, you can delete the batch in Tasks, Bank Transfers then select the batch and delete the entries.

Option I: Offsetting the original bank transfer with a reversing bank transfer

  • If your original bank transfer was from Bank A to Bank B, enter another bank transfer from Bank B to Bank A to offset the original bank transfer. Refer to article ID 30123 "DocLink: How do I enter a bank transfer in Cash Management?"
  • When you use this method, you can control the dates used for the reversing transfer.
  • If the bank transfer originated from Property Management, you must use this method to reverse the entry; you cannot use Cash Management to delete entries that originated from interfacing applications.

Option II: Using Edit Register to delete the bank transfer

Note: If you already deleted a bank transfer in Cash Management, use Edit Register (Tasks, Edit Register) twice to delete both sides of the bank transfer from both bank accounts involved in the transfer. Refer to article ID 23591 "DocLink: How do I delete, void, or remove a transaction in Cash Management?" for detailed information on deleting a Cash Management transaction in Edit Register.

  • You must manually delete both sides of the bank transfer from both bank accounts involved. Deleting one side of a bank transfer does not automatically delete the other side of the transfer.
  • The reversing General Ledger entry that creates when you delete the transfer uses the original accounting date.
  • When you delete one side of a bank transfer, Cash Management sends a balanced entry to General Ledger using the appropriate cash account and the Bank Transfer Clearing account you specified in CM Settings (File, Company Settings, CM Settings, Bank Transfers tab).
