When you want to reverse a bank transfer, you can either offset the original transfer with another transfer or delete both sides of the transaction. Review the information below and then determine which option is best for your business practices. Offset the original bank transfer with a reversing bank transfer If your original transfer was from Bank A to Bank B, enter another transfer from Bank B to Bank A to offset the original transfer. - When you use this method, you can control the dates used for the reversing transfer
- If the bank transfer originated from Property Management, use this method because you can't use CM to delete entries from interfacing applications
Use Edit Register to delete the bank transfer Use Edit Register to delete both sides of the transfer. - Manually delete both sides of the bank transfer from both bank accounts involved
- Deleting one side of a bank transfer doesn't automatically delete the other side of the transfer
- The reversing General Ledger entry created when you delete the transfer uses the original accounting date
- When you delete one side of a transfer, CM sends a balanced entry to GL using the cash account and the Bank Transfer Clearing account
NOTE: The clearing account is specified in File, Company Settings, CM Settings, Bank Transfers Delete the batch in Bank Transfers Only use this option if you haven't posted the transfer and you use manual batches. - Go to Cash Management, Tasks, Bank Transfers.
- Enter the manual batch information.
- Delete the entries in the transfer.
