IMPORTANT: Start with master article 105554 DocLink: Double exclamation marks (!!) appear on the Current Ledger or Year-to-date Ledger in General Ledger (MASTER ARTICLE) before proceeding with this one.
To verify if you have transactions posted to other transaction files:
- Have all users exit the software as some settings will be temporarily changed.
- In General Ledger select File, Company Settings, File Locations.
- Scroll to GL Transaction.
- If the Ask Name column is marked, click Cancel.
- If the Ask Name check box is not marked, mark the Ask Name check box and click OK.
- Select Inquiry, Entries.
- You will see a list of all General Ledger transaction files. If you see a file named anything other than New.glt, Current.glt, or History.glt, select that file. If you do not see anything other than New.glt, Current.glt, or History.glt, then your transactions are not likely posted to more than one current transaction file and you can skip to step 7.
- Review the transactions contained within that file in the inquiry. If the file contains transactions for the accounts that appear on the ledger with !!, then the transactions must be merged into your Current.glt file. See article 25678 DocLink: How do I move General Ledger transactions from my current file to another current or history file? for instructions on how to move transactions from a current General Ledger transaction file to another current transaction file.
- If you marked the Ask Name check box in step 3 above, clear that check box (File, Company Settings, File Locations).
- When you have restored your settings, users can get back into the software.
