Note: This is an example of how a shift differential pay may be set up. It uses the Construction Sample Data and the assumptions listed below.
Assumptions:
- The regular pay ID is REG.
- The pay rate table for UNION already exists.
- The columns on the pay rate table are Union ID, Union Local, and Union Class.
- The shift differential pay uses the higher rate from the employee or union rate table and uses a different rate
- N is used to designate the night shift.
- The shift differential pay must be setup on a Union Shift pay rate table
- Enter the shift differential N for any shift hours worked on a separate line from the non-shift pay
Follow these steps:
- In Payroll go to the Setup menu, select Other Tables, Pay Rate Tables
- Enter a table name such as UnionShift and an appropriate description
- In the Pay ID field, click List at the bottom, select the REG pay, and click OK
- Create a new table using at least the following columns:
-
- Union
- Union local
- Union Class
- Shift
-
- Note: if additional columns such as Employee or Job as necessary add them at this point in the setup process
- Click Save
- Click Table to populate the newly created Table and begin entering the details. Remember to enter the Night shift Rate for each scenario
When entering time, the shift column must be present to distinguish when the Night shift rate is to be used.
