Error: "Unable to initialize PDF Converter" when printing to Paperless PDF through a Citrix or Terminal Server session
Description

[BCB:3:Network warning:ECB]

[BCB:4:Operating system warning:ECB]

The workstation's PDF converter is interfering with the print job. They may be either Sage PDF Converter or Extended Solutions PDF Converter (which appears as "Extended Solution PDF Converter session ##" in Printers and scanners on the server).

Make only the Sage PDF Converter printer installed on the Citrix/Terminal Server's (Citrix/TS) server available for printing to PDF.

  1. Prevent any workstation's Sage PDF Converter printers from appearing in the Citrix/TS session.
    • If Citrix/TS is set up to connect to all of the client's printers at logon:
      • Remove the Sage PDF Converter from all of the workstations.
    • If Citrix/TS is set up to connect to only the client's default printer at logon:
      • Change default printer for each workstation to anything other than the Sage PDF Converter.
  2. Have all Citrix/Terminal Server users log out of their sessions.
  3. Remove all instances of the Extended Solutions PDF Converter from Windows Printers and faxes on every workstation.
  4. Reinstall the Sage PDF Converter on Citrix/TS server. For more information, see related article How to install and uninstall the PDF converter
  5. Log on to the Citrix/TS, and open Printers and Faxes.
  6. Verify that only the Citrix/TS's local Sage PDF Converter printer is the only PDF Converter that displays.
  7. On the Citrix box, verify that CdIntf300.dll exists in ..\Windows\System32.
  8. Log on to Citrix/TS and print a document that generates a PDF file through Paperless Office.
  9. Change the Default Printer on the Terminal Server/Citrix box to a local printer. The XPS Document Image writer is a good choice for testing
