Supported virtual environments
Sage 100 supports virtual environments where the vendor supports the same Windows operating systems as Sage 100.
All operating systems listed in the Supported Platform Matrix documents remain supported when hosted on approved virtual platforms.
If a virtual platform appears in the Supported Platform Matrix, Sage has tested and validated it.
If a platform or version doesn’t appear, Sage hasn’t tested it and doesn’t support it.
General requirements
Hardware and software requirements for Sage 100 apply to virtual environments.
You must allocate enough system resources, including processors, memory, storage, and network capacity.
TIP:
Virtual environments consume additional resources. Increase minimum and recommended values accordingly.
Support limitations
Sage 100 Customer Support has limited visibility into virtual environments.
Support doesn’t include troubleshooting virtualization-specific issues.
You’re responsible for maintaining virtualization settings, permissions, and security configurations.
You’ll receive a referral to your IT professional for advanced troubleshooting.
NOTE:
Support requires reproducing issues in a fully supported, non-virtual environment when applicable.
Known limitations and examples
Microsoft Azure
Some users report installation errors in Azure due to missing administrator permissions.
Sage support doesn’t assist with Azure-specific configuration issues.
Remote Desktop Services and Citrix
Some environments experience printing errors or inconsistencies using RDS or Citrix.
Printing to redirected or session-based printers can fail or behave unpredictably.
RemoteApp and printer visibility
A workstation accessing Sage 100 through RemoteApp can’t detect locally added printers automatically.
You must install the printer within the server environment under the user profile.
Unsupported environments
Sage 100 doesn’t support the following environments:
- Microsoft Remote Desktop Web Client
- Microsoft Azure Windows Virtual Desktop Pool
NOTE:
See the Supported Platform Matrix linked at the bottom.
Third-party compatibility
Some third-party products don’t support the same virtualization platforms as Sage 100.
You must confirm compatibility with the third-party vendor before deployment.
Additional considerations
Virtual environments can introduce:
- Installation or configuration errors
- Security and permission challenges
- Performance degradation due to limited resources
- Printing failures or inconsistencies
CAUTION:
Running multiple virtual servers on one physical machine can reduce performance without proper resource allocation.
