▼ System compatibility information and requirements

System compatibility and requirements for the supported versions of Sage 100 Standard, Sage 100 Advanced, and Sage 100 Premium.

Upgrades (Parallel vs. In-Place)

NOTE: Beginning with versions 4.40 and higher, In-Place upgrades are no longer available as an option.

Sage recommends a Parallel upgrade rather than an In-Place upgrade.

▼ Parallel Upgrade
  • Install the new Sage 100 version in a different location and move your data there
  • It needs more disk space and steps but causes fewer problems if the upgrade fails
  • You can still use the old version and fix issues easily
  • Test the new version before switching fully
  • Access to the old data is important because data conversion is complex
▼ In-Place Upgrade
  • Install Sage 100 over the old version
  • It uses less space and fewer steps but will cause issues if the upgrade fails
  • Always back up your data first
  • You can’t use this method for version 4.40 or higher
▼ Important Migration Tip
  • Run the Parallel Migration Wizard from the new install folder
  • Never migrate from the same folder—you’ll lose data and need to restore from backup

Product Registration Keys, Modules, and Sample Companies

▼ Product Registration and modules

Product Registration and Modules

The Product Key you enter during installation decides which modules or applications you can install.

Product Registration Keys include

  • Serial Number
  • Customer Account Number (10 digits, starts with "400")
  • User or Unlock Key
  • Product Key (five sets of five characters)

To learn more, see:

If You Don’t Select a Module

  • Some modules still install even if your keys don’t support them
  • These modules will run in trial mode for a limited time
  • If you use a trial module with a purchased one, it will cause issues when the trial ends

Migration Warning

If a module was in the old version but not in the new, you’ll get a migration error. Remove the unused module before upgrading.

Payroll Module

To use Payroll, you need a current Payroll Subscription Plan.
Your registration keys must match your Payroll Tier and employee count.

For help, see

▼ Sample companies

You can install sample companies, also called demonstration data. Sage recommends using them for testing and training.

Product Updates and Program Fixes

▼ Product Updates and Fixes

Sage releases full versions, Product Updates, and Program Fixes

  • Sometimes, a Product Update comes out the same day as the full version
  • Always check the Sage Knowledgebase before installing
  • Install Product Updates and Program Fixes first before migrating or converting data
  • Some versions require updates before migration
  • If you skip them, migration will fail. You'll need to uninstall and reinstall everything correctly
▼ Third-Party Enhancements
  • If you use third-party tools or custom programming, check for compatibility
  • Install updates to work with Sage Product Updates or Fixes
