Reset user passwords and set up password requirements

▼ Reset your own password
  1. From the Sage 100 Desktop, open File, and select Change User Password.
  2. Enter the Old Password.
  3. For New Password, enter the new password.
  4. For Confirm Password, reenter the new password.
  5. Click OK.
▼ Reset the password for another user if you have the rights to do so
  1. From the Sage 100 Desktop, open Library Master, Main menu, and User Maintenance.
  2. To use Administrator credentials, sign in as Administrator. Open Administrative Tools, and then User Maintenance.
  3. Select the user logon you want to reset.
  4. Enter the new password in the Password and Confirm Password fields.
  5. Click Accept to save changes.
▼ Reset the Administrator password if you know the current password
  1. Launch Sage 100.
    •  NOTE: Make sure Unified Logon is off   
  2. For User Logon, enter Administrator.
  3. For Password, enter the password created for the Administrator logon to access the Administrative Tools window.
  4. Click Administrator Password to access the Administrator Security Password window.
  5. For Password, enter the new password.
  6. For Confirm Password, enter the same new password again.
  7. Click OK, then Close.
▼ To set Password Requirements for all users
  1. Open System Configuration from the Sage 100 Desktop.

    • Click File, Register
    • Or, go to Library MasterSetup, then System Configuration
  2. Click the Security tab to view password settings.

  3. If you want to use Unified Logon (Windows Authentication).

    • Don’t select any password options
    • See Related Resources for setup help
  4. To require passwords for user logins.

    • Check Require all Users to Enter a Password
    • This unlocks more password settings below
  5. To enforce strong passwords.

    • Check Require all User Passwords to be System Defined Strong Passwords
    • Passwords must be at least eight characters
    • Password must have letters and numbers
    • Password mustn't have more than two repeating characters in a row 

       

  6. To set a minimum password length.

    • Check User Defined Passwords must be of a Minimum Length
    • Only available if Unified Logon is off and Requires all Users to Enter a Password is on
  7. Set the Length field.

    • Must be greater than 0. The default is eight
    • Can’t be less than eight if the system requires strong passwords
  8. To force password changes.

    • Check Force Password Change after a Set Number of Days
    • Only available if Unified Logon is off and Requires all Users to Enter a Password is on
    • Note: This doesn’t apply to shortcuts or batch files that log in silently
  9. Set the Days field:

    Enter how many days before users must change passwords
    • Must be greater than 0
  10. To lock users out after failed logins.

    • Check Lock Out User after a Set Number of Invalid Logon Attempts
    • Only available if Unified Logon is off, and Require all Users to Enter a Password is on
  11. Set the Attempts field.

    • Enter how many failed logins before lockout
    • Must be greater than 0
  12. To unlock users after a wait time.

    • Check Unlock User after a Set Number of Minutes Elapse from the Last Invalid Logon
    • Only available if Unified Logon is off and the lockout option is selected
    • Note: You can reactivate expired accounts in User Maintenance
  13. Set the Minutes field.

    • Enter how long accounts stay locked
    • Must be greater than 0
  14. Click Accept to save and exit System Configuration.

 NOTE: Make sure to communicate the password requirements to all users
