How to open port 3050 in Windows Firewall for Sage Timeslips
Description
Cause
In a multi-user environment, the Sage Timeslips database server listens for data changes on port 3050. These instructions detail how to open port 3050 within Windows Firewall. You only need to follow these instructions at the database server.
Resolution

Using Timeslips Administrator

  1. Open Timeslips Administartor on the server
  2. Click Open port 3050

Using Windows Firewall Advanced Settings

To open a port using Windows Firewall, use the rules in Advanced Security settings.

  1. Go to the database server for Sage Timeslips Premium.
  2. Press the Windows Key + R simultaneously.
  3. In the Run dialog box, enter WF.MSC and click OK.

The Windows Firewall with Advanced Security window will launch

  1. On the left panel, click Inbound Rules
  2. Under the Actions panel on the right side, click on New Rule
  3. In the New Inbound Rule Wizard, choose Port and click Next
  4. Leave the default setting of TCP marked. In Specific local ports, enter 3050 and click Next.
  5. Leave the default setting of Allow the connection and click Next.
  6. Choose where the rule applies. Typically all three options (Domain, Private and Public) will be selected, but you should check with your network administrator regarding company policy about setting rules for public connections.
  7. Name the new firewall exception Timeslips Firebird Server and optionally enter a description.
  8. Choose Finish.
  9. The firewall exceptions will have been created and you can use Sage Timeslips in your network.
