NOTE: Ensure there are no pending Windows updates and prepare to restart the machine. This process guides you to upgrade the Microsoft SQL Server Express Edition versions earlier than 2019 or those missing the cumulative update. You’ll see your current version and the recommended version. 

Steps to upgrade SQL Server

1. Log out all users from Sage 100 Contractor.
2. Log in to Database Administration on the server. 
3. Click Server Management and Upgrade SQL Server Instance.
4. A message, on the right, will inform you of available recommended upgrades.
5. Click Upgrade SQL when there's an available recommended upgrade.
6. A message will show the installation details and server restart requirements.
7. Click OK. 
8. Follow the prompts to install the latest SQL Server Express Edition cumulative update.

This process only allows you to update the database instances connected to Database Administration. For other database instances, connect to them separately and follow the steps above to upgrade. This procedure only applies to the SQL Express edition. For Standard or Enterprise editions, follow Microsoft's recommended process.
