How to run Repair Company

Summary

How to run the automatic Repair process on a Sage 50 Accounting company.

The Repair Company utility reindexes all the .dat files in a company data folder. This fixes certain amounts of file damage.

Run the Repair Company utility if...

You have a problem with a file that you can't reindex with the Reindex File integrity check
You have badly damaged company data but no viable backups (always restore a backup instead if you can)

If you have Sage 50 2024, check your Build by selecting Help and then About Sage 50 Accounting.

If your Build starts with 31.0.00, install the latest program update
CAUTION: Repair Company in version 2024.0 (Build 31.0.00) will encounter an error on the PDSIDMap.dat file and stop running: updating fixes this
If your Build starts with a different number, continue to the next step

Make a backup of your company.

NOTE:

If you're unable to open the company, you can make a copy of the company folder instead.
If Sage 50 is open, close it.
Right-click on the Sage 50 icon and choose Properties.
Place your cursor to the right of Target, enter a space, and add -i at the end.
Click Apply and then OK.
Launch Sage 50 with the icon that you modified.
Go to File, Repair Company. Click OK to close the current company.
Select your company from the list and click OK.
On the warning message, click OK if you're ready to continue.
The repair will run. This can take a while.

If you receive I/O errors, this generally indicates that the file is damaged, and you should restore a previous backup.
