Summary
How to run the automatic Repair process on a Sage 50 Accounting company.
Cause
The Repair Company utility reindexes all the .dat files in a company data folder. This fixes certain amounts of file damage.
Run the Repair Company utility if...
- You have a problem with a file that you can't reindex with the Reindex File integrity check
- You have badly damaged company data but no viable backups (always restore a backup instead if you can)
Resolution
If you have Sage 50 2024, check your Build by selecting Help and then About Sage 50 Accounting.
- If your Build starts with 31.0.00, install the latest program update
CAUTION: Repair Company in version 2024.0 (Build 31.0.00) will encounter an error on the PDSIDMap.dat file and stop running: updating fixes this - If your Build starts with a different number, continue to the next step
- Make a backup of your company.
- If Sage 50 is open, close it.
- Right-click on the Sage 50 icon and choose Properties.
- Place your cursor to the right of Target, enter a space, and add -i at the end.
- Click Apply and then OK.
- Launch Sage 50 with the icon that you modified.
- Go to File, Repair Company. Click OK to close the current company.
- Select your company from the list and click OK.
- On the warning message, click OK if you're ready to continue.
- The repair will run. This can take a while.
If you receive I/O errors, this generally indicates that the file is damaged, and you should restore a previous backup.
