Create a User DSN (also called Timberline DSN or ODBC DSN) to access Accounting and Management data. Install Sage 300 CRE on the workstation so the drivers can be available for the DSN.
Set up a User DSN
- From the Windows taskbar, click Start and select All Programs, ODBC.
- Select the correct administrator and tab for your version.
- Versions 25.2 and earlier: 32-bit ODBC Administrator, User DSN tab
- Versions 26.1 and later: 64-bit ODBC Administrator, System DSN tab
- On the correct tab, click Add.
- In the Create New Data Source window, select Timberline Data, and then click Finish.
- Enter a Data Source Name and specify the Database Type as an Accounting Data Folder.
NOTE:
The Data Source Name can be any name unless specified in the documentation for this DSN.
- Click Select Folder and select the folder containing the data you want to use.
- Click OK.
- Click Options.
- Specify the Table and Field Naming as Standard descriptions unless otherwise specified in the documentation for this DSN.
NOTE:
Field descriptions for miscellaneous fields don't store standard description field names.
- If the DSN is for Crystal Reports, select the Use maximum table segment size checkbox.
- Clear the Shorten field and table names checkbox.
- Click OK and then OK again.
