Summary
There’s an Obsolescence Information message in the current version of Sage 50 Accounting.
Description
Verify that you are on a currently supported release of Sage 50 Accounting. See Supported products and services.
Cause
- The OBSRET.DAT file didn't update properly
- The most current version of the program isn’t installed
- HTML links didn’t update properly
- The program isn’t activated
Resolution
Obsolescence message in release 2024:
Check for updates
- Close the program.
- Right-click the shortcut and then select Run as Administrator.
- Select Services, Check for updates, Check Now. Click OK on the message that there are no updates to install.
- Close the program and reopen.
- Go to Services and verify that the Obsolescence Information no longer shows on the menu.
If it still appears, follow the steps below to replace the OBSRET.DAT file with an updated version.
Replace the OBSRET.DAT file in the data path
- Go to the Sage 50 data path directory. See How to find the data path and program path.
- Locate the OBSRET.DAT file.
- Rename the OBSRET.DAT file to OLDOBSRET.DAT.
- Unzip the attached 2024 OBSRET.zip file and copy the extracted OBSRET.DAT into the Sage 50 data path directory.
- Verify that the obsolescence message no longer appears. If the problem still occurs, contact Sage support.
