Move Sage Timeslips to a new computer

Summary

How to move all versions of Sage Timeslips from one server to another. This also applies to moving the program for a stand-alone single license installation.

Resolution

Sage Timeslips 2017+

Install the application on the new machine or server

  1. Open Timeslips on the current system.
  2. Select Help, About Sage Timeslips Premium, then select Support Info.... Record the Installation Code, Account ID and Serial Number.
    • You can export or print the report to keep a copy for future installs.
  3. Install Sage Timeslips on the new system using the recorded information, and install all required Timeslips Service Releases.
  4. Download installation files from Sage Timeslips: Download Portal.
  5. Run Timeslips Administrator on the new system, and confirm operational components.
  6. Rename Timeslip.CFG and the Timeslips Firebird Server folder on the old system to disconnect existing clients.

Move the database to the new server or stand-alone computer

Install the program on other workstations - For Network installations only

Sage Timeslips 2016 and older (Borland versions)

Move the application to the new machine

  1. Copy the Timeslips installation folder from the old server to a shared folder on the new server.
  2. Rename TIMESLIP.CFG on the old server to oldTIMESLIP.CFG to disconnect clients.
  3. Open Station Administrator, locate TIMESLIP.CFG on the new server, then clear all licenses. 
  4. Direct all clients to the new server so they reconnect to the installation.

Move the database to the new machine or server

  1. Back up the database on the old system.
  2. Restore the database backup to the new server.
