Open port 3050 in the Windows Defender firewall

Summary

Sage Timeslips Premium uses port 3050 on the database server to handle data updates in multi-user setups. You can open this port using Timeslips Administrator or Windows Defender Firewall on the server.

Resolution

Open port 3050 using Timeslips Administrator

  1. Open Timeslips Administrator on the server.
  2. Select Diagnose this computer.
  3. Click Open port 3050.
    • This adds an exception to Windows Defender Firewall only, and any third‑party firewalls require user updates.

Open port 3050 using Windows Firewall advanced settings

  1. Go to the database server for Sage Timeslips Premium.
  2. Press the Windows key + R.
  3. In the Run dialog box, enter WF.MSC, or enter Firewall.cpl, and click OK.
  4. Click Inbound rules in the left panel.
  5. Click New rule in the Actions panel on the right.
  6. Select Port, and click Next.
  7. Keep TCP selected, enter 3050 in Specific local ports, and click Next.
  8. Select Allow the connection, and click Next.
  9. Select the profiles for the rule. Usually you’ll select all three options (Domain, Private, and Public).
    • Ask your network administrator about company rules for public connections.
  10. Name the exception Timeslips Firebird Server, and optionally enter a description.
  11. Click Finish.

Successful configuration

The firewall exception activates, and the network can use Sage Timeslips.
