Section 5: Custom Forms Note: when Sage 50 creates a backup, it copies the custom form files from the Forms folder in the data path. If one of these files is causing the problem, deleting it from the specific company data directory may not solve the problem. In this case, you would need to remove the offending form from the Forms folder: Option 1: - Click Reports and Forms, Forms.
- Click on a custom form that is no longer being used.
- Click Delete.
- Continue to delete any other obsolete forms.
- Verify that the backup will complete now.
- If the problem persists, continue to delete the remaining custom forms, one at a time.
Note: you can check the file name of these forms this way: - Click on the form name, then click Preview and Print from the lower right.
- Click the Print Setup tab and note the File name.
Option 2: - Create a folder on your desktop called Old Sage 50 Forms.
- Browse into your data path and open the Forms folder.
- The file name for your custom forms will have this format: [xxx]00[xxx].FRM.
- The file name for your standard forms will have this format: [xxx]01[xxx].FRM.
- Remove all of your custom forms from the Forms folder and place them into the Old Sage 50 Forms folder.
- Sort by file type and remove all of the .PTR files.
- Verify that you can make a backup now.
Section 6: Temporarily move the Attachments and/or Archives folder out of the individual company folder - Browse to the data location, see How to find data path and program path.
- Move the Attachment folder out of the individual company folder.
- Create a backup.
- Move the Attachment folder into the individual company folder.
- Obtain a separate backup of the Attachments folder:
- Right-click Attachments, select Send to Compressed (zipped) folder.
- Move the Attachments.zip backup to a separate backup folder.
Note: If the Archives folder is to large then perform the same steps listed above. Cannot backup the company because the attachments too large
