Before you begin

You can void a prior quarter payroll check with a current quarter date

• Void and reissue a check from the last payroll quarter. See

• Void a check from the current year, but more than one quarter back. See

Void Payroll Check by Employee

1. Open PR, Processing, Void Payroll Check, by Employee.
2. Enter the employee, check number, and void date.
3. Select the Restore time card box to restore the time card associated with the check. This restores the time card and replaces existing time card entries for the employee. 
4. Click Void.
5. Print the Check Register and keep with your payroll records.
6. If you selected to restore time cards.
   • Go to PR, Processing, Print Time Card Entries, Current
   • Review the time card entries and make any adjustments as necessary
   • Select PR, Processing, Automatic Payroll Calculation
   • Calculate payroll before printing payroll checks

Void Payroll Check by Check

1. Open PR, Processing, Void Payroll Check, by Check.
2. Enter a range of check numbers.
3. Enter a void date, or select the Use check date check box.
4. Select Restore time cards box to restore the time card. This restores the time card and replaces existing time card entries for the applicable employee.
5. Select the checks you want to void.
6. Click the Void button. 
7. Print the Check Register and keep with your payroll records.
8. If you selected to restore time cards, preview the time card entries, then calculate the time cards.
   • Go to PR, Processing, Print Time Card Entries, Current
   • Review the time card entries and make any adjustments as necessary
   • Select PR, Processing, Automatic Payroll Calculation
   • Calculate payroll before printing payroll checks

Important information

• You can void any check in the current or previous quarter
• Reissue checks in the current quarter only
• Don’t use the void check option if you’re voiding and reissuing a prior quarter check. See How to void and reissue a check for a prior quarter  
• A negative tax deposit displays if you void a check after paying taxes in the current period
  • To correct, void the tax deposits and reenter. See How to void a payroll tax deposit check
• When you void a cleared check, the message displays
