Month-end close or data rebuild doesn’t finish successfully
Description

Anytime a close (or rebuild) has started and doesn’t complete on the first attempt that indicates a failed close (or rebuild). A failed close (or rebuild) puts your data in an unknown state.

Cause
Resolution
  1. If the close is hanging or in progress, press Ctrl+Alt+Delete.  End the task on the close or rebuild in process.
  2. If you’re unsure if the close/rebuild is complete, see how to determine if a close failed.
  3. If you are unsure if you have a good backup, restore the backup to a new company.
     CAUTION: Before working forward in your data, restore your backup from before your first attempt to close/rebuild. 
  4. After you restore the backup, rebuild the data files for that module.
  5. If using a network version, attempt the rebuild/close again directly at the server.
