It could be necessary to restore a previous backup to a new company ID if...

  • You need to retrieve historical information that your current company has purged
  • Restore a backup after performing a close or rebuild that generated errors
  • Damaged data due to server crash, power outage, or virus

Make a backup of your data

 CAUTION: You can't reverse the restore process. It's important to make a backup of your data before proceeding.

Restore the backup to a new company ID

  1. Select File, Restore.
  2. Click Next..
  3. On the left side of the screen, browse to the folder that contains the backup file.
  4. On the right side of the screen, select the backup file to restore.
  5. Click Next.
  6. On the Begin Restore screen, check the Restore to New Company ID box and enter new Company ID.

  7. Switch to the new company ID by selecting File, Select Company.

Set User Security to the new company

The manager is granted access to all companies. If users other than MANAGER will be accessing the company, set user security for each user.

    1. Select Utilities, Maintain Users, then select the user.
    2. Click Security Settings.
    3. Click the ... in the top right-hand corner and select the new company.
    4. Grant the user access to the necessary modules in Sage BusinessWorks.
    5. Select OK and Save.
    6. Do the steps above for all users that will be accessing this company.
       NOTE: 
      You can copy user security for users with similar access rights.
