Error: "An incomplete [File path] file already exists."
Description

The complete error message may read as one of the following depending on the version of the software:

  • "An incomplete [file path\file name] file already exists. To repair the existing file, click Cancel and run File Doctor on the file. If you click OK, your software will delete the existing file and create a new one. You will lose all transactions in the old file."
  • "An incomplete [file path\file name] already exists. This file will be deleted prior to creating a new file. If you wish to recover the existing file, click cancel and run File Doctor on the file."

This error generally appears after receiving this message: "The file name file was not found. The file will be created."

Cause

Missing or corrupt gateway files.

Gateway files, such as current.apt, master.glm, new.prt, etc...are pointers to the actual data which exists in similarly named folders inside the PVData folder (for example: current_apt, master_glm, new_prt, etc...).

When performing a task in the software, if the gateway file is missing for a file it is trying to access and it attempts to create the file, if it detects the PVData files exist for that file, it will present the error.
