If you want to keep your old version of Sage 50 alongside the new one

NOTE: You can run multiple versions of Sage 50 2020 or newer on the same computer.

  1. Make a backup of your company data.
  2. Start the installation for the new version of Sage 50.
  3. When the installer asks you for the Program Path, enter a custom directory or folder.
    • We recommend using a folder named for the version you're installing
    •  EXAMPLE: When installing Sage 50 2024, use C:\Program Files (x86)\Sage2024\Peachtree\
  4. Change the data path during the installation by inputting a new one.
    • Use this to give each version of Sage 50 its own data path
    •  EXAMPLE: For Sage 50 2024, change the data path to C:\Sage2024\Peachtree\Company
    • This gives each version a compatible set of company data
    • When you open a copy of your company in the new version, that copy converts automatically
    • You can't open converted companies in older versions of Sage 50
  5. Copy your company data to the new path by restoring the backups you made earlier.

If you just want one version of Sage 50

  1. Make a backup of your company data.
  2. Uninstall Sage 50 Accounting.
  3. Start the process to reinstall Sage 50.
  4. When the installer asks you for the Program Path, enter a custom directory or folder.
    •  EXAMPLE: Use C:\Program files (x86)\Sage\Accounting instead of the default C:\Program files (x86)\Sage\Peachtree
  5. You can also change the data path during the installation by inputting a new one.
  6. If you change the data path, copy your company data to the new path by restoring the backups you made earlier.
