There's an early and late tax table update for Sage BusinessWorks. Don't miss out.  Make sure you're signed up to receive Community Hub notification of product releases.

Early Tax Table Update

We release this update in early January. It includes Federal and State tax table change from agencies that reported updates before the release date.

Late Tax Table Update

We release this update in late February. It covers Federal and State tax table changes from agencies that reported updates after the early release.

▼ What versions include the current year tax updates?

The current and previous versions of Sage BusinessWorks both receive tax table updates. If you are on an unsupported version of Sage BusinessWorks, upgrade to the current version or manually update the tables.

▼ When do I install the tax table updates?

Install tax table updates for the new year AFTER processing your payroll year-end W-2s and tax reports in Sage BusinessWorks.

▼ How to download the tax table updates?

The tax table updates are available from the Sage BusinessWorks Download Portal.  For information, see Download Sage BusinessWorks tax updates.

▼ What happens if I install the tax table updates too early?
  • Install the update after year-end processing to avoid manual changes to OASDI and State limits. If installed early, adjust limits manually before processing W-2s and tax forms
  • Once you've completed year-end processing, adjust the OASDI and State limits for the current year

▼ How can I manually update tax limits and rates?

Sage BusinessWorks Service Packs include updates to wage base limits and tax rates only. To ensure you’re receiving notification of tax table updates, register for Community Hub notifications.

▼ Will my Federal and State income tax withholdings self-adjust?
  • If you ran payroll without updating tax tables, the system won’t fix the tax difference automatically
  • Even if tax tables stayed the same, any withholding changes still affect employees’ year-end tax liability

▼ Do the tax table updates update my sales tax rates?

No. Tax table updates only update the Payroll tax tables in Sage BusinessWorks. Use the AR, Utilities, Sales Tax, Maintain to update any sales tax rate.
