Summary

Using File Doctor to fix data corruption in Sage 300 CRE.

Resolution

1. Prerequisite

  • Have all users exit all Sage applications and restart the File Server
NOTE: This step can resolve corruption messages without running the File Doctor
  • Verify that the free disk space is twice the size of the file you're fixing
  • Review information for locked files for low disk space

2. Prepare to use the File Doctor

  1. Log in to the Sage file server with the admin user.
  2. Stop the SQL Replicator, if you're using it.
  3. Back up your company data.

3. Use File Doctor to fix your data files

NOTE: When you review the File Doctor journal, not all suggested fixes are good. If you're uncertain, contact support. Some issues require restoring all files from a backup and fixing the restored files.

  1. Open Sage Desktop.
  2. Go to Applications, Common Tasks, Tools, and File Doctor.
  3. Select the Current data folder to fix specific files.
  4. In the Tasks section, select the Fix and compact bad files and Compact good files checkboxes.
  5. Then, select the desired files in the Files list.
  6. Under Printer Information, click Printer Setup.
  7. Select Print to file and click OK.
  8. Click Start to begin fixing the files.
  9. In the Print File Selection window, type a name for your summary report and click Save.
  10. Review your report to ensure all the fixes and any data loss.
NOTE: If you printed the report to a file, view and print the file from the File, Printouts menu.
  11. Restart the SQL Replicator, if you're using it.
